Design Of The Week - Disney X Coach

The unimaginable can immerse from the world of Packaging Design – so prepare yourself for a blast of nostalgia and a handful of Disney magic. Design Packaging and Coach partnered together to deliver an iconic rendition of Mickey Mouse from the 70's into modern form. The launch of the long-awaited collaboration between Disney and Coach brought the creative expertise together to bring to life the Disney X Coach retail packaging that exhilarated the world.

Design Packaging takes us behind the scenes of the creative production that went behind the Disney X Coach packaging. Coming towards the celebration of 75 years at Coach, a collaboration with Mickey Mouse was unequivocal. This also worked hand-in-hand with their redirection towards a more youthful approach Coach had desired.

The Disney X Coach packaging is minimal yet very effective.

It optimises the aesthetics of their packaging on an embossed black-on-black design that immediately draws attention to the illustration of Mickey at the face of the bag. The logo 'Disney X Coach' is hot stamped in foil so that whilst in movement, the logo can gleam and overall emphasise the nostalgic and playful character. Mickey, too, is hot stamped in white and red foils to similarly provide the same effect as the logo.

The bag is finished off with vanishing handles with black cotton twill that provided a flat canvas for Mickey. In terms of its effect, Disney X Coach had social media goer's going crazy!

A sense of premium luxury is reinforced through the superb details of their packaging. We believe it is an exemplary example of great collaboration between two brands. Disney's values of Imagination, Fun and Youthfulness is clearly amplified with the recreation of Mickey in its youthful and playful design.
